66-Year-Old Man Arrested for Murder in Ruidoso
RUIDOSO – The Ruidoso Police Department has arrested a 66-year-old man in connection with the murder of his female roommate, according to a news release posted on the Village of Ruidoso Facebook page on Sunday.
Robert Walker, 66, was charged with first-degree murder, tampering with evidence, negligent use of a firearm, and possession of a controlled substance, according to the release.
At about 5 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10, Ruidoso Police were dispatched to a residence after a caller reported he had shot a woman in his driveway, placed the gun in his bathroom, and would wait in his bedroom until police arrived.
Officers found Walker on his front porch and took him peacefully into custody after giving commands. They discovered 55-year-old Lynette Morris-French dead in the driveway.
Walker and Morris-French were roommates, and police say Walker fatally shot Morris-French, though no motive was provided.
