Attention Truck Drivers: Your Input Needed on Real-Time Parking Information
DEMING – The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT), in partnership with the I-10 Corridor Coalition, is seeking feedback from truck drivers and dispatchers. The goal is to address challenges related to parking along the I-10 corridor.
The I-10 Coalition is working to provide real-time parking information for the I-10 route, which spans Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California. By 2025, the Truck Parking Availability System (TPAS) will include data on over 550 parking spaces at 37 public rest areas along I-10, helping drivers make informed decisions about where to park safely.
To ensure the system meets the needs of truck drivers, a survey has been launched. Participation will help in designing a system tailored to drivers’ requirements. In New Mexico, truck drivers can currently use electronic road signs and the state’s 511 system to find available parking at six rest areas along I-10. These include the Lordsburg Welcome Centers (eastbound and westbound), Anthony and Gage rest areas (westbound), and the Yucca and Las Cruces rest areas (eastbound). Additionally, the state is collaborating with app developers to integrate truck parking information into various trucking apps.
Truck drivers are encouraged to participate in the survey to contribute to the development of this crucial system.
