DEMING – The Southwestern New Mexico State Fair begins today at the Fairgrounds located in the Deming Industrial Park. Starting at 7 a.m., local youth will be weighing in their swine, lambs, and goats, followed by steer weigh-ins at 10 a.m. All livestock must be in place by this time.
At noon, vendors will start setting up their booths, preparing for a bustling afternoon. Those with entries for the Home Economics Building 1 can begin setting up from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. The Midway Carnival will open its gates from 4 p.m. until 11 p.m., offering fun and entertainment for all attendees.
Livestock contestants will need to register for the round robin showmanship event by 5 p.m. The day’s activities will conclude with a poultry show at 5 p.m. and a swine show at 6 p.m.
The public is encouraged to attend and support the fair, which runs through Sunday afternoon, ending at 3 p.m.
