LAS CRUCES – Authorities are investigating the death of a 14-year-old boy who was fatally shot Monday night in what Las Cruces police believe may have been the result of a road rage incident.
Officers responded around 9 p.m. to reports of gunfire near the intersection of Solano Drive and Spruce Avenue. Upon arrival, they found the teenager suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The boy’s name has not been released pending family notification and the ongoing investigation.
In a statement, police said, “Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a road rage confrontation, though the exact circumstances remain under investigation. No arrests have been made at this time.”
