Tropical Storm Priscilla to Bring Rain and Possible Flooding to Luna County

DEMING – The National Weather Service in El Paso reports that moisture from Tropical Storm Priscilla is expected to move into Luna County and surrounding areas this weekend, bringing an increased potential for widespread rainfall and localized flooding.

Forecasters say rain chances will begin to rise on Saturday as tropical moisture flows northward into southern New Mexico. The heaviest rainfall is expected Sunday into Monday, when the greatest flooding threat could develop—especially for locations west of the Rio Grande and across portions of Luna County.

While some uncertainty remains in the storm’s exact track and rainfall totals, officials urge residents to stay alert for forecast updates and possible advisories. The National Weather Service reminds the public to avoid driving through flooded roadways and to prepare for heavy rain, brief street flooding, and reduced visibility at times through early next week.
