DPS Board to Hold Special Meetings Regarding Superintendent Vacancy

DEMING – The Deming Public Schools Board of Education will hold two special meetings this week to continue the process of selecting a new superintendent.

Following a vote during a regular meeting on Saturday, the Board has called a special meeting for Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at 5:30 p.m., at Deming High School. The meeting’s main focus will be to address limited personnel matters related to the superintendent vacancy.

According to the posted agenda, the Board will enter executive session to review candidate information, discuss contract terms, and potentially negotiate and name a new superintendent. If no candidate is selected from the existing pool, the Board may consider additional candidates in a secondary executive session.

Board leadership also announced a closed session has been added to the regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 5:30 p.m., to be held at the Emmett Shockley Administration Building, should further deliberation be needed.

“Our notices and agendas are always posted 72 hours in advance, but due to the importance of the item, I wanted to reach out in a transparent manner,” the Board representative stated.

Thursday’s agenda includes public comment, budget adjustments, vendor agreements, and presentations from the Student Nutrition Services Department. Additionally, the meeting will feature a livestream of the open session on the district’s YouTube channel at:
