An arrest warrant has been issued for Kelly McEachran, a longtime teacher at Hope Christian Elementary School in Albuquerque. He is currently under investigation following allegations of inappropriate contact involving a student.

According to KOB-TV, the allegations involve an 11-year-old girl who claims McEachran touched her inappropriately several times over the course of several months during class. Albuquerque police say the behavior reportedly occurred while the student was at the teacher’s desk asking questions.

Investigators say McEachran has worked at the school for over a decade, possibly teaching students from more than one generation. Authorities believe there may be other individuals with relevant information and are encouraging anyone with knowledge to come forward.

Commander Kyle Hartsock with APD’s Criminal Investigation Division stated, “In situations like this, it’s common for others to feel uncertain about speaking out. But the law supports victims, even if time has passed.”

McEachran’s attorney, Chris A. Dodd, issued a statement denying the allegations. “Mr. McEachran is shocked that APD would charge him without first reaching out. He strongly denies these claims and looks forward to clearing his name through the legal process,” Dodd said. He also noted McEachran’s 35-year career as an educator and is asking for the warrant to be canceled, adding that McEachran is making arrangements to return to Albuquerque to address the matter directly.

Hope Christian Elementary School declined to comment but released a brief statement through its attorney reaffirming that the safety and security of its students remains its top priority.
