DEMING – DAGSHIP Rescue is reporting strong progress from a nearly $50,000 grant received last October to help pay for public spay and neuter surgeries.

According to DAGSHIP, the grant was designed to cover 360 spay and neuter surgeries for members of the public. In the first six months of the program, Robyn with DAGSHIP reported that 333 coupons have already been issued.

The effort is part of DAGSHIP’s ongoing work to reduce pet overpopulation and help more animals in Luna County receive needed care.

DAGSHIP also took part in the annual Cancer Support Celebration of Life held May 2 at Voiers “Pit” Park. The organization was invited to attend the community event, where six animals found new homes.

DAGSHIP said shelter co-directors Beka and Sheryl continue to use every opportunity possible to connect animals with loving families.

The group said the adoptions at the Celebration of Life were another reminder of how community events can help animals find their forever homes while also bringing people together for a meaningful cause.
