DEMING – Deming Public Schools will host a “Soda with the Superintendent” meet-and-greet on Wednesday, September 17, from 5 to 6 p.m. at Memorial Elementary, 1000 S. 10th St. The informal drop-in event invites families, staff, students and community members to share ideas, ask questions and build connections with district leadership.
Superintendent Nicholas Wohlgemuth, a Tularosa native and New Mexico State University graduate, brings 23 years in New Mexico public education. Before joining DPS, he served as Director of Secondary Schools for Gadsden ISD, overseeing five high schools and three middle schools, leading district instructional coaches and specialists, administering college-and-career readiness programs, and guiding improvement efforts using the Marzano High Reliability Schools Framework. His prior roles include principal and assistant principal at Santa Teresa High School, where he expanded STEM and AP offerings, and social studies teacher at the middle and high school levels.
Wohlgemuth emphasizes transparent leadership, equity and operational excellence, with a focus on student well-being and readiness for college and careers. The September 17 session is designed as a casual opportunity for individual conversations and connection.
