DEMING – On the evening of May 13, 2024, a Deming Police Officer’s routine patrol took a sudden turn on West Pine Street. At approximately 9:00 p.m., a pedestrian unexpectedly stepped into the path of the officer’s fully marked police vehicle. The officer exited the vehicle and provided aid to the injured individual, and summoned medical assistance.
Deming Emergency Medical Services (EMS) swiftly arrived on the scene, transporting the male pedestrian to Mimbres Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Remarkably, he was released mere hours later.
New Mexico State Police (NMSP) assumed control of the crash site, conducting a thorough investigation. Ultimately, the pedestrian was cited by NMSP, absolving the Deming Police Officer of any wrongdoing. No law enforcement action was taken against the officer.
