DEMING – The Deming Police Department released its weekly summary of arrests and investigations covering October 17 through October 24, 2025.
Detective Sergeant Patrick Rico reported an update in the case of 25-year-old Manuel Carrazco. His original charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and kidnapping were amended after further investigation. Carrazco now faces attempted murder, kidnapping, and tampering with evidence. The investigation remains active under Detective Rico.
Vidalia Monjaras, 28, was arrested October 24 on a United States District Court warrant for federal firearms violations — possession of a firearm or ammunition by a prohibited person, and possession by a user or addict of a controlled substance.
Tommy Grajeda, 42, was taken into custody the same day and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Police said Grajeda allegedly pointed a handgun at another driver near Florida and 8th Streets. Officers later located his vehicle, conducted a felony stop, and recovered a firearm after obtaining a search warrant.
A separate arrest involved 43-year-old Cesar Oxlaj of Texas, who was taken into custody on a Barzos County District Court warrant for driving while intoxicated. He was booked into the Luna County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash bond.
Deming officers also investigated a vehicle burglary October 20 at 400 West Florida Street. The victim reported a black Chevrolet pickup’s speaker system was stolen, with cables and an amplifier left hanging from the back seat. No forced entry was found, and police are reviewing evidence.
Another burglary occurred at 509 South Silver Street, where a barn was forced open and an ATV valued around $2,500 was stolen. Tire tracks led south on Silver Street. The case remains under investigation.
