DEMING – Deming Public Schools is reporting significant progress in the 2024–2025 New Mexico state assessment cycle, with notable gains in reading, math, and science across the district.
Superintendent Nicholas Wohlgemuth said the district’s improvement reflects “the hard work of our students, the commitment of our teachers, and the strong support of our families.” He added, “These gains show what is possible when we focus on high-quality instruction and hold ourselves accountable for student success.”
Literacy showed the strongest gains, with Deming High School increasing proficiency by 12.5 points and Memorial Elementary jumping nearly 14 points, among the largest improvements statewide. Early College High School continued to lead the district with more than 70 percent literacy proficiency.
In mathematics, Early College High School posted one of the largest statewide increases, improving more than 30 percentage points to nearly 48 percent proficiency. Deming Intermediate also continued a steady two-year rise.
Science results improved at Deming High School and remained strong at Early College High School, supported by new materials and expanded hands-on learning opportunities.
A chart at the end of the district’s report highlights overall performance in language, math, and science, giving families a clear overview of this year’s outcomes.
District officials say these results will guide instruction and support efforts ahead of the New Mexico Vistas School Report Cards, expected later this fall.
