DEMING — After an extensive investigation into the recent senior prank incident, authorities have confirmed that unsafe and destructive behavior occurred at Deming High School. The incident involved a group of students who engaged in disruptive actions, leaving a trail of damage in their wake.
According to school officials, ten seniors and three underclassmen were responsible for the chaos. They stacked tables, flipped desks, broke a podium, damaged two personal items, and scattered debris throughout the school premises, including the Activities Office. Unfortunately, a staff member was present during the incident and granted students access to the facilities.
However, due to privacy laws (FERPA) and personnel regulations, the identities of those involved will remain confidential. No details about disciplinary actions taken against the students will be publicly disclosed.
Deming High School Principal Gasper Lozano* expressed disappointment, stating, “We have over 250 seniors graduating this year, and it’s disheartening that a small group tarnished this celebratory time. Deming Public Schools does not condone property destruction or the humiliation of others.”
The school administration is committed to moving past this unfortunate event and focusing on celebrating the achievements of the graduating seniors. The cloud of darkness caused by the prank will not overshadow the joyous occasion ahead.
