Lake Roberts: Irma Herrada of El Paso, Texas, caught a 22-inch catfish using hot dogs on July 5.
Elephant Butte Lake: Rachel Peña of Las Cruces caught a 23-inch, 6.5-pound largemouth bass using a crank bait on July 10.
DEMING – The latest fishing report highlights various lakes and rivers in the region.
In Deming at Trees Lake, there were no reports of catches reported to the New Mexico Game and Fish Department.
At Bill Evans Lake, fishing for bass was fair to good with spinnerbaits. Caballo Lake saw good fishing for walleye using minnows and catfish with cut bait.
Elephant Butte Lake provided excellent bass fishing with silver-and-blue Rat-L-Trap lures and white crankbaits. White bass fishing was very good with Rat-L-Trap, Flicker Shad, chrome Kastmaster, and shad-pattern swimbaits. Walleye fishing was good using chartreuse grubs and silver spinners, and catfish fishing was fair to good with live minnows, cut shad, and cut carp bait.
Escondida Lake reported good catfish fishing using chicken liver. Estancia Park Lake had fair to good bass fishing with Whopper Plopper lures and pink soft-plastic worms.
Glenwood Pond offered fair trout fishing using PowerBait, though there was a notable accumulation of moss. Lake Roberts had good catfish fishing using hot dogs and stink bait.
On the Rio Grande, the streamflow below Elephant Butte Dam on Tuesday morning was 2,230 cubic feet per second. Catfish fishing was fair to good using worms and chicken liver. Young Pond saw good catfish fishing with chicken and nightcrawler worms.
