Deming Gears Up for 45th Annual Great American Duck Race
DEMING – The Great American Duck Race is celebrating its 45th anniversary, and this year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever. The festivities will feature the Columbus Electric Co-Op Tournament of Ducks Parade, with the theme “Hula to the Finish Line.” Participants are encouraged to incorporate the theme in their floats, cars, bikes, or ATVs, with a chance to win first place.
The Duck Race Committee proudly announces Joe “Butter” Milo and Jim Reedy as the Grand Marshals for this year’s parade. Milo and Reedy were part of the original group that started the Duck Race tradition at the Grand Motor Inn Lounge over four decades ago. Their efforts, along with a dedicated team, have turned a small-town event into an internationally recognized celebration.
The 45th Annual Great American Duck Race begins on Thursday, August 22nd, with the Bravo Mic Duck Royalty Pageant at the DHS Auditorium, and concludes on Sunday, August 25th, with the final races at Luna County Courthouse Park. For a full schedule and more details, visit demingduckrace.com.
